"Kim Carey is a colleague of mine who I hold in the highest esteem. Of the many outstanding qualities that she possesses, I would rate communication and problem solving as her best. (see more)

Innocean Worldwide, Ogilvy & Mather, NW Ayer, FCB, Hal Riney & Partners, Suissa Miller, Dentsu
I am a Producer who understands clearly the balance between art and business.
Have now lived & worked in all 4 major film markets in the USA. Currently based in Atlanta for 10yrs covering all the So.East.
Wining combo of Agency, Production Company and Entertainment Network projects.

For me, the ART part is enjoying the creatives imagination & design passion in how they want the brand to engage with humans in a cool, visually interesting way.
A Producers business, which actually takes a good amount of creativity in many ways, is configuring a smart streamlined execution plan with a budget that harmonizes the highest creative goals, dollars being spent in the right places, with financial efficiency.
There IS an “art” a "savvy" to successfully bringing all those moving parts, logistical operations, tech equip, stuff and people together in a smooth, unified way. You want the creatives to play and visual goals to shine, not the mechanics.
Collaboration and communication is king. (I clearly have not mastered the art of fitting entire career into text size comms)
I learned every important rung on the professional production/execution experience title ladder trained on Fortune 500 brand clients on large complex campaigns covering every media type. Now as a veteran Producer, with that solid experience to rely on, I can work with any client on pretty much any type of project.
Love those funky weird ones that never have any money? And, the smaller local or growing clients who genuinely just need quality help.
Whatever complex media combo/job scale you’ve got, the first thing I do is listen. Then absorb creative info, specs, ask the right questions, look for most effective Producer role integration into clients internal work flow so I clearly wrap my head around the project big picture in order to best quarterback it from start to finish.

Every single job requires enough comprehension to oversee/debate/negotiate with approx 7 Depts: Camera, Lighting, Grip, Wardrobe, Make-Up, Production, Sound, playback & DIT, Art/Prod Design and Locations. On small jobs I managed art and locations in addition to running the production dept. Celebrity, SFX and Stunts are in addition depending on the job.

So, with the above knowledge in mind, budgeting is one of my best talents and goes hand in hand with pre-bid research and shoot/schedule planning whether I shoot it or give it to another producer to take over. It’s where you can flag potential problems early, get to know each other, figure out the puzzle and plan expectations accordingly. All projects have a “right way” realistic, cost efficient bottom line budget that can ensure highest creative standards. It’s the best place to win a clients trust during this collaborative process of the what and how.

• Like HOW to explain to agency cost controllers what it will cost to build a suburban house on top of a mesa in Moab,UT so our
hero “married couple” can leave their house for work together and parachute down to their Dodge trucks at the bottom. ($5million)
• How to beautifully photograph 17 talent, different parings, in every existing wardrobe “look”, covering every single activity & amenity
offered to passengers in 10 day shoot on a moving Celebrity Cruise Ship. ($500k Hard costs, NOT including talent fees or photographer)
• How to shoot/get people to agree to be naked on camera, in streets of New York City in Winter! for fun “man on the street” interviews for
director Tony Kaye “Naked” TV commercial campaign. (I know, I know but it was 1990’s) ($150k budget)
